Oblivion: Shire of Nocturnal and the Skeleton key!
Now if you’re like me you hate lock picking. I can’t stand it. The sound of a lock pick breaking makes me want to find a town guard……smile at him as he smiles at me……draw “The Sword of Death!!!!”…………….and smite him!
While browsing another Oblivion blog I heard talk of a Skeleton key, that would boost my security skill to ridiculously high levels! Without wasting a moment I stopped the quest I was half way through and began the quest: Shrine of Nocturnal.
The quest begins north of the southern most town….can’t think of the name but I know it begins with an “L”. If you take the north east road out of town near the river you will find the Shrine of Nocturnal. Talk to the behatch and she will give you a quest to recover a stolen gem of some sort that was taken from her (The Shrine voice is hilarious). Now if you go back to town “L” and begin asking questions about the town you will hear about two muppets who have just found a “large gem”. You stake them out and you will overhear them talk about some cave to the south of town “L”.
This cave is tough to clear. I am a level 12 bard and it took me 3 goes to kill all in my path!!!! The trolls have an endless amount of hit points! I fought one from the bowels of the cave all the way to the top of a hill outside. I had to run and heal myself as the knuckle dragger chased me through the forest! But he like his Mountain Lion friends fell. Does anyone think it a bit strange to see a Mountain Lion and a Troll patrolling a cave together? Such co-operation between a wild animal and an evil monster hell bent on destruction…..anyway…..their dead now.
At the bottom of a flooded tunnel you will find the gem. Take it post haste back to the Shrine for the ultimate award (at least for me), an end to lock picking!!! Not a single lock can stand in my way now!!! I never have to hear the annoying sound of lock picks breaking!!!!! This thing cannot break!
Off to close another Oblivion Gate….I am starting to think this game would be better titled: Elder Scrolls: The Closing of the Oblivion Gates (X50)
