Hunter Vs Battlefield 2

Filed under: Emulation — Philip @ 11:41 pm

While reading a post about Battlefield 2 i was reminded of one of my favourites from the Amiga. I don’t know if anyone remembers a game called Hunter? In this game, which sported some impressive “3D graphics” for the time, you went about various military style missions in a bounded 3D world.

What i really loved about this game was the freedom to use many types of vehicles from push bikes to missle laden helicopters. You had several different types of land and sea vehicles and even a hover craft which was the shit! I remember thinking at the time of release, WOW they could never top this game!

In a way i was right in a personal sense, as it still holds a warm fuzzy place in my heart. From what i am reading on Battlefield 2, maybe Hunter has met it’s successor and modernised a complete and utter classic, good to see.

  1. I agree. BF2 has shown the world what games CAN be like. From humble beginnings BF1942 exploded with a huge fan base. It was one of the few games out there devoted to Online wargaming. BF Vietnam was welcomed with open arms, it was my personal favourite of the first two original.

Then BF2 arrives and blows the opposition out of the water. With Halflife 2 being a benchmark for soooo many games out there, the graphics for one, surpass Halflife.

And I can say that the CSS players out there, should get ready to remove thy crowns for BF2 is a definite match. Graphics, gameplay, weaponry. It matches on all levels.

Ok, it does not have as many weapons available (YET!!) as CSS does, but there is a good selection, and more can be unlocked by scoring high points and gaining promotions in the ranks. And we have a “Rebel Insurgent” addon pack coming with tons more!!!

With Rag Doll physics you can see your opponent wriggle as you drill him with your AK-47.

Someone said to me, Surely this has been done before? Surely it’s just a polished version, slightly better, slightly this, slightly that? Well after playing it themselves, that unnamed skeptic was WELL - Impressed. And he was a CSS Believer.

Granted, it has been done before…but what hasn’t in all honesty?

    Go forth and purchase.

    You will NOT be disappointed.
