Dawn of War strategy guide

Filed under: Tutorials, Real-Time Strategy — Justin @ 2:55 pm

Have not posted in a while…..but since the beginning of makethisgame.com Dawn of War has always been around….so I thought I would put up a little post and try and get some people posting up their different strategies. Of late we have noticed that the calibre of player seems to have dropped quite a bit. Perhaps all the good players have moved on to greener pastures??? This should help get you up to speed:

Space Marines: A tried and tested strategy I always employ, and very rarely ever fails me! Build a scout off the bat followed by the infiltration upgrade. Have the scout en-route to a hiding space deep in the enemy base but away from the chapel barracks etc (to avoid detection). 2 more scouts should be used to take your points asap.

Build 2 more servitors, and rush build an extra chapel barracks and the armoury. Once the armoury is built begin your stronghold upgrade. Then spit out marine squads and take and hold the centre point of the map. Build nothing but dreadnoughts, DO NOT EVER BUILD Hellfire Dreadnoughts. Always leave your force commander in or at the entrance to your base to catch scouts. In the same vein patrol your own base with your librarian. Build as many turrets as you can at the front of your base as somewhere to fall back to should things go bad!! Remember to upgrade some of them with missles!!

Once your orbital relay is built start building/loading dreadnoughts. I usually have 2 dreadnoughts, and 2 full squads of terminators. I attach my force commander to one of the squads. If my scouts are still alive….as is usually the case….I send my entire army into the enemy base (attack move)

As your opponent deals with your frontal attack drop your forces in behind the lines. Do an orbital bombardment on his HQ and Bob’s your uncle. He will usually pull troops from the front lines to counter the new threat in the base…in which case push up to his base and that’s it!!! It works 9 times out of 10!!! If you al co-ordinate it is almost impossible to defend against.
